Republican rants about "a stronger stance against China" are garbage, and the GOP is America's greatest weakness
Joe Biden recently gave the order to have a Chinese spy balloon shot down after it was safely over ocean waters and there was no longer any risk that shooting it down might result in a potentially lethal shower of debris raining down on residential areas within the United States. Claims that the US should have used a weapon powerful enough to "vaporize" the entire device so there would be no debri are simply sci-fi inspired nonsense that have no basis in reality. Ultimately, the GOP likely wishes that the gondola below the balloon had landed in a residential area, so they could have used that incident as an excuse to begin impeachment proceedings against President Biden.
As part of their whataboutism, Republicans have also resorted to their typical "we need a stronger stance against China" rhetoric. The desire or a stronger stance against China is based in the Republican Party's fealty to wealthy oligarchs who are pursuing a strategy of "rotation of points of production and consumption" against major world economies. The greatest threat against any sovereign state is economic uncertainty, and the goal of the oligarchs is to create a situation where their ability to rotate investment capital and by extension, employment in and out of various countries ultimately allows them to exert a high degree of control over political leaders. In a country like China, it is advantageous to the oligarchs to use corrupt Republican politicians in the US who will put the resources of the United States to use to try to weaken the Chinese.
The problem with the GOP position is that their strategy has one key flaw that they seem to have missed, and that flaw has to do with the ingrained paranoia and extreme hysteria of the GOP base in the United States. All China has to do if they want to substantially weaken the US is announce that all shipments of consumer goods to US markets will immediately cease. Store shelves in the US would rapidly empty; Republican propagandists in the US would have a field day; and heavily armed right-wingers would immediately start hoarding goods just like they did during the Covid epidemic. Americans would be afraid to leave the house due to a massive surge in store shootings as angry conservatives decide that they're ready to start shooting if that's what it takes to get a full shopping cart. The Republican Party has driven their base to such an agitated state, that any attempt at US belligerence against China will immediately backfire. The Republican politicians running around shouting "Make America Great Again" are actually pushing for a situation where Americans would be so afraid of mass shootings over something as simple as a television set or pair of blue jeans means they won't even leave their home to go to the store. Maybe the GOP has become so warped in their thinking that they think that's a victory. I assure you most Americans do not agree with them.
